Baseball is a bat and ball game that essentially involves throwing, hitting, and catching a ball as opposing teams alternate between fielding (defense) and batting (offense). Hitting a rapidly approaching baseball, a difficult task, requires several strategies to generate an efficient hit. Some of the essential techniques are as follows:
Batting Stance. Choosing an open or closed posture depends on the one the batter finds more comfortable. However, the body should be appropriately balanced with the feet standing shoulder-width apart and the eyes focused steadily on the ball.
Grip. Getting the right grip is important because it affects the swing. The best way to get a proper swing of the bat is through a relaxed and light hold. Tightening the grip can weaken the fingers, which will eventually lead to a bad swing.
Power. Generating more power when hitting baseball requires sufficient arm strength and perfect timing. Good positioning of the legs is also essential to create enough energy. The best way to generate an excellent and consistent hit using the’ power of the legs is by rolling onto the back toe during contact.
